Directions to the New Jersey Institute

From the George Washington Bridge: Take Route 4 West to the River Road-Teaneck exit (this is also exit for Fairleigh Dickinson University). At traffic light, turn right onto River Road. Continue for approx. a half mile until traffic light at Cedar Lane—turn left. Stay on Cedar Lane through approx. 6 traffic lights. The Institute and Clinic are located at 121 Cedar Lane at the corner of PRINCE ST.The entrance is on PRINCE ST.

From points west of River Road exit: Use Route 4 East to the River Road-Teaneck exit and follow same directions as above.

From Garden State Parkway and Route 80 East: Take Ridgefield Park/Bogota Exit (67). Go up ramp and make first left onto Palisade Avenue. Continue until third traffic light and turn left onto Cedar Lane. Follow for approx. 1/2 mile (through business district). Continue until third light and turn right onto Cedar Lane. Stay on Cedar Lane for until Prince St. The Institute and Clinic are located on the left side of Cedar Lane at the corner of Prince St.

NOTE: Only 15-minute parking is permitted on Prince St. across from 121, but further along Prince St. there is longer-term parking. There is additional parking on Cedar Lane and on some side streets off Prince St. and Cedar Lane.

Participants will increase their knowledge of how the mind of the child unfolds through patterns of behavior, attachment styles, regression, repetition, fixation, and the development of personality.   • Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program
    (3 years)

    This program has been designed to enrich the work of clinical practitioners and professionals in various disciplines by introducing them to psychoanalytic principles, theories, and techniques. By understanding the concepts of transference and resistance, the candidate will be able to work with a wide variety of patients and acquire the skills to develop a better theoretical framework and a practical approach for an effective clinical practice.   • Certified Psychoanalytic Program (5 years)

    This program is the first formal psychoanalytic training program for nonmedical professionals in the State of New Jersey to be accredited by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis, Inc. (NAAP). Its purpose is to graduate skilled psychoanalysts who are able to function independently in private practice. To this end, candidates are provided with clinical experience at the Institute’s low-cost Clinic of NJI Inc. and are helped in becoming established in the private practice of psychoanalysis. More
