Supervision is the cornerstone of training of all mental health professionals. Yet the skills of an effective supervisor are not necessarily the same as those needed to be an effective therapist. The 1-year Supervision of the Psychoanalytic Process provides a unique opportunity to learn about the principles of supervision and enhance your clinical skills. MoreA Certificate will be awarded upon completion of this program.
PATHWAYS TO BUILDING AND EXPANDING A PRIVATE PRACTICE
The 1-Year Psychoanalytically-Oriented Psychotherapy Certificate Program provides a foundation to the principles, theories, and techniques of psychoanalysis. This course will enable the participants to identify and utilize the four major clinical concepts of psychoanalysis: unconscious process, transference, resistance, and countertransference.
Through teaching, mentoring, and clinical case discussions, the 1-Year Program participants will gain the support and confidence necessary to develop or expand their private practices or work more effectively with patients in community mental health agencies, schools, universities, and health care settings.
Given that many participants find the foundation program of great value, they continue their training and course of study at NJI in various programs.

This is a concentrated, psychodynamically oriented training program designed for therapists in private practice and agencies. It offers training in both long-term and time-limited group therapy, and includes work with special populations. The program begins by addressing the anxieties of therapists starting a group. It then proceeds to guide the student through each step—from establishing a group through maintaining a group—first under supervision and then as a certified group psychotherapist.
