At the conclusion of this presentation audience members will be able to:

2-Define addiction
3-List 6 physiological and psychological effects of opioid addiction
4-Describe some iatrogenic contributions to the history of opioid addiction
5-Describe at least three benefits of psychoanalytic intervention

Burton Norman Seitler, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice. He is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of JASPER, the Journal for the Advancement of Scientific Psychoanalytic Empirical Research. He is the former Director of Counseling and Psychotherapy Services in Ridgewood & Oakland, NJ; former Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy program of the New Jersey Institute (NJI); former Chair of the NJI Training Board; and current Chair of NJI Board of Trustees. Dr. Seitler serves on the Editorial Boards of the journals, Ethical Human Psychology and Psychiatry, and the International Journal of Controversial Issues. In addition, he is a Faculty member of the Gordon Derner Postdoctoral program at Adelphi University. Dr. Seitler has presented and published over 100 scientific papers and chapters locally, as well as internationally, including psychosis, paranoia, suicide, ADHD, autism, resilience, myopia, neuroscience, Randomized Controlled Trials, as well as approaches to opioid use.
