This four-workshop series entitled “Innovation and Debate in Relational Psychoanalysis” will be presented by Jon Mills on February 24, March 10 and 24, and April 14.

Objectives:

1-Describe three major events in the history of the Relational Movement.

2- List three theoretical innovations.

3-Compare and contrast relational approaches to technique with drive theory.

4-List three critiques of major concepts and principles of the Relational Turn.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Dr. Mills, he is a philosopher, psychologist, and psychoanalyst and faculty in the Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy, Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, Adelphi University and Emeritus Professor of Psychology & Psychoanalysis at the Adler Graduate Professional School in Toronto. Recipient of numerous awards for his scholarship, he is the author and editor of over 20 books. The title of his most recent book is Debating Relational Psychoanalysis: Jon Mills and His Critics (2020). Although he considers himself a relational psychoanalyst, he is well-known for his fair-minded critique of the relational psychoanalytic movement.
